In an online event held yesterday, Tecno officially unveiled Camon 15 series for the Nigerian market with four different variants. The new series includes Camon 15 air, Camon 15, Camon 15 Pro and Camon 15 Premier.

15 is the version for the Camon series this year, and that begs the question about what happens to version 13 & 14. This isn’t the first time Tecno or other smartphone OEM skips a version number, the difference is unlike other manufacturers customers just have to accept the version number they get with no explanation.

They are what I would call the premium pair, and they share a whole lot of similarities. The both have Motorized pop-up cameras, with the same physical build and colors, same processor and storage etc. The only possible way you would tell these phones apart is their price and camera. While the pro has a 48MP main camera sensor, the premier has a 64MP sensor.

Camon 15 pro will retail for N75,000 while Camon 15 premier will retail for N 95,000.

Just like the premium pair above, These two very similar in terms of appearance and features. The design on these two looks homelier with familiar hole-punch selfie cameras and the square camera module which looks like the trend for most smartphones in 2020. They also have throttled hardware compared to the premium paid above. Between these two the selfie camera and RAM would be the major difference.

The Camon 15 will retail at N 62,500 while Camon 15 air will sell for an estimated N45,000

Once again, Tecno has opted for their beloved Mediatek Chipset. Both chipsets have appeared in almost every phone Tecno has made for the past three years. A move which wouldn’t sit well with some fans while most others don’t care.

These two chip have proven to be very reliable and efficient over the years, and Tecno seems to know how to extract the best performance from these chips. If you look pass the benchmark numbers, you will realize these phones perform relatively better that you expected.

But as a fan, i honestly feel Tecno could switch things up and go for more capable and inexpensive Mediatek processor out there. Camon 15 Pro and Premier both come with Helio P35 and 6GB of RAM while the Camon 15 and Camon 15 Air will be powered by Helio P22 backed up by 4GB and 3GB RAM respectively.

Tecno Camon series for this year are juicy, they have great specs and prices, and users also have more options to pick from based on their budgets. Camon has not failed to deliver when it comes to camera performance, I am not expecting them not disappoint now they even have higher resolution cameras.
