The Pro versions, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max were also announced at Apple’s events. The versions most pro users and enthusiasts would tend towards, the version that gets most of the media attention because of the extra features and also the versions that would sell the least because of the cost.

However, there are certain key features expected from Pro variants of iPhones, larger displays, larger batteries and higher cost. All the aforementioned are true for the Pro series this year.

iPhone 12 Pro series is also expected to share certain similarities with iPhone 12 they are based on. Some of the similarities are flat-sided conners, OLED super XDR displays, A14 SoC, 5G capabilities, magsafe, ceramic shield etc. You can see the details of some of those features in our iPhone 12 article. For now, Let’s see some of the features that actually make these versions worthy of their names.

iPhone 12 Pro comes with a 6.1-inch display at 2532 x 1170 pixels (457 PPI) while iPhone 12 Pro Max features a 6.7-inch display at 2778 x 1284 pixels (458 PPI). Both pro series comes with the stainless-steel frame as opposed aluminium used in iPhone 12.

Apple is offering four rear cameras for the pro series. With 12MP wide, ultrawide, LiDAR TOF sensor and telephoto. The wide and ultrawide lens on 12 Pro are similar to those on iPhone 12, but it’s 12 telephoto lens with 52mm focal length will allow it to take 2x optical zoom. While the LiDAR sensor will be used for AR effects and to help focus in low-light situations, making autofocus for low-light photography up to six times faster. LiDAR will also allow users to take portrait shots in the dark.

iPhone 12 Pro Max takes the camera tech further, with a larger 12MP wide sensor which has a 1.7μm pixel size and a sensor-shift OIS technology. All of which apple boast will result in 87% better low light performance. Its Telephoto lens also has a longer 65mm focal length with a 2.5x optical zoom.

Apple also teased a new feature it calls “Apple ProRAW” that will be available on the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max later this year. The new iPhone 12 Pro phones will also be able to shoot in HDR video and Dolby Vision HDR and users would be able to both video formats.

Both pro series would be available in four colours: grey, stainless steel, gold, and a new blue. And in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options. The iPhone 12 Pro will start at $999, preorder start on Friday, October 16th and will ship on October 23rd while iPhone 12 Pro Max will start at $1,099 and see preorders on November 6th and ship on November 13th.
