Google has officially announced the rebranding of Android, finally ending the desserts naming scheme Android versions were known for.
This means the next version of Android originally known as Android Q will simply be known as Android 10. This news not only comes as a shock but a disappointment for some Android fans who enjoyed the alphabetically ordered desserts name associated with Android versions.
Googles head of brand and creative told Android Authority the move was to make Android brand more appealing to the worldwide audience. He said some of the previous desserts used in previous Android versions were not known in most part of the world so they moved to version numbers instead.
This move is quite understandable because most other OS like windows and iOS uses version numbers already, so this basically puts everyone on the same page. Besides remembering what desserts name was associated with what Android version is sometimes a hassle for most people, unlike numbers.
Personally, I always wondered what would have happened when Android version got to alphabet ‘Z‘? It only feels like this move was inevitable.
But I will still like to know what do you think about this move.
